Captain Dave is a 25-year veteran of the fire service with a mission to make learning about safety engaging, practical, and fun. As a firefighter, captain, and mentor, he spent decades saving lives and preparing future heroes to step into the challenging world of public safety. Now, he’s bringing that same passion to teaching families and children how to stay safe in their everyday lives.

Throughout his career, Captain Dave earned a reputation for his calm leadership in high-stakes situations, whether tackling towering flames in urban settings or leading his team through massive wildland fires. When a career-ending injury shifted his focus, Captain Dave turned to his other passion—education—and founded the Fire Service Ascend Academy (Become a Firefighter, Pass EMT Class, Better Vision in 6-Weeks, etc. online courses).

Recognizing that safety starts at home, Captain Dave has created a series of books and resources to help parents and guardians teach their children essential safety lessons in a fun and memorable way.
