Gordon Lloyd Jones

Gordon Lloyd Jones is an accomplished author, educator, and pastor whose journey from humble beginnings to a life of impact and inspiration epitomizes resilience and faith. Born in Maysville, Kentucky, Gordon was raised by his hardworking single mother, Evelyn Faris, alongside his brothers Bill Jones and Paul Kelly Earhart. He graduated as a salutatorian from Maysville High School in 1970 and pursued higher education at Maysville Community and Technical College, the University of Kentucky, and Liberty University.

Gordon began his professional career at Dayton Power and Light, where he dedicated 37 years before retiring early. Building on his passion for learning, he transitioned to teaching at Maysville Community and Technical College, where he has been inspiring students for over 12 years.

Beyond his professional pursuits, Gordon has been an ordained pastor since 2003. Since 2009, he has led The Shepherd’s House Church, bringing hope and guidance to his community.

Gordon is the author of four books, each reflecting his journey and faith. His works include Divinely Encountered, The Son Also Rises, WWII: The Fighting Faris Family, and Power in the Clouds. His latest book explores the history of Dayton Power and Light, weaving in fascinating stories of its power plants and employees.

He is currently writing three more books: Ghosts In The Sky, featuring more stories and history of two local power plants that have been demolished; Murder On Market Street, a murder mystery; and The Lonely Christmas Tree, a children’s book.

Gordon is also a contributing writer for Maysville Living magazine, where he shares his unique perspectives and stories. With a lifelong love of literature instilled by family and friends, his passion for writing has emerged as a powerful force, enabling him to inspire others through his words.
