K. Wapato is a father of two who has spent
most of his life on or near Native American reservations
in the Pacific Northwest. The struggles he has
witnessed, along with his own battles with addiction,
inspired him to write this book. K. Wapato is a direct
descendant of several notable Native American chiefs,
including Chief Wapato John and Chief Peter Wapato.
He is currently studying counseling and is nearing the
completion of his degree. In his free time, he works
to uplift his community by sharing his family’s rich
history and raising awareness about Missing and
Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW).
