Marc Landry is Associate Professor of History, Marshall Plan Endowed Professor in Austrian Studies, and Director of the Austrian Marshall Plan Center for European Studies at the University of New Orleans. He is the author of Mountain Battery: The Alps, Water, and Power in the Fossil Fuel Age (Stanford University Press), and Series Editor of Contemporary Austrian Studies, and his research has also appeared in journals like Environmental History and Journal of Global History. He has held grants and fellowships from the DAAD, Deutsches Museum, IEEE, and the Louisiana Board of Regents. Landry was the Fulbright-Botstiber Visiting Professor in Austrian-American Studies at the University of Innsbruck.
Landry teaches courses in environmental history, central European history, and world history. A native of Colchester, Vermont, he grew up Nordic skiing in the winters and running in the short period of time when there was no snow on the ground.
