Ian D Morris

Ian Morris, the youngest of a farming family, grew up exploring the Australian countryside and wrote his first poem at age 16. His journey has taken him from rural Australia to volunteering and working in India, Scotland, and Brisbane, broadening his understanding of the human experience. With qualifications in biological sciences, social work, and mental health, Ian has spent over 30 years as a social worker, focusing on disability, mental health, and supporting victims of crime and abuse.

Ian now lives in the Brisbane suburbs with his multigenerational family, along with a few dogs, reptiles, and chooks. His work continues to be deeply influenced by his diverse experiences and commitment to giving voice to those often overlooked.
