Born as the first son in a family of fourteen brothers and sisters, D.A. left home at eighteen and moved down south to attend a Christian college. When he couldn’t afford to pay tuition after his second year of enrollment, he joined the United States Army as a chaplain’s assistant, where he served for three years before returning to the Tennessee Valley. There, he served in various ministries as an evangelist, music minister, youth minister, and pastor of a couple of churches. During this time, his spiritual gift of encouragement helped many brothers in the faith persevere in finishing the race set before them. Eventually, D.A. returned to complete his bachelor’s degree, earned a Master of Divinity, and completed a doctorate in Christian counseling. He is the father of three grown sons, grandpa to six grandchildren, and husband to a loving wife. He would say his greatest accomplishment in life is knowing Jesus and guiding others to know Christ as he does. Philippians 3:10.
