Alessandro Ventroni is a passionate marine aquarist with over 20 years of experience, and has acquired extensive knowledge both through study and practice as well as through interaction with other fellow enthusiasts. His passion for reef aquariums stems from a desire to recreate the magic and complexity of ocean ecosystems within his own home a challenge that, over the years, has evolved into a true philosophy of life.

One which will aim for natural equilibrium and treat the functianal processes of the ocean. To him, the Deep Sand Bed (DSB) is not only a management method, but also as a means to relive some aspects of the ocean at the campsite, to create a calming, natural environment.

In his book, "Reef Dreams: The Incredible Passion Behind Marine Aquariums", Alessandro tells us the result of 20 years of activity, knitting together technical knowledge, personal stories and important lessons from other aquarium enthusiasts along the way. The book extends beyond technical issues of reef care and addresses the human and interpersonal aspects of the pastime: the feeling of love, the waiting, and wonder that are inherent to the task of caring for animals of the sea.

When he’s not tending to his aquarium or researching the latest advancements in the field, Alessandro dedicates his time to inspiring other enthusiasts who dream of bringing a piece of the ocean into their homes. Its task is to encourage an intelligent and environmentally sound practice of marine aquarium keeping in such a way that all aquarists may have the opportunity to keep a healthy aquarium and at the same time to develop a profound sense of responsibility for nature and the marine animals that live our oceans.
