I am Prof. Dr. Pushpanathan Sundram, an author, policy practitioner, and educator with more than three decades of experience across government, academia, and the private sector in Asia. I spent over 16 years at the ASEAN Secretariat, including serving as Deputy Secretary-General for the ASEAN Economic Community, where I was closely involved in regional integration, economic cooperation, and institutional development.
I write both nonfiction and fiction. My nonfiction books focus on ASEAN, public policy, leadership, and governance in Asia, drawing directly from real-world experience rather than abstract theory. Alongside this, I also write techno-political and dystopian thrillers that explore power, technology, geopolitics, and human resilience in times of disruption.
Whether analytical or narrative-driven, my writing is shaped by firsthand experience in policymaking, leadership, and navigating complex political and regulatory environments. I aim to make complex ideas accessible and engaging for both professional and general readers.
I am an adjunct professor and a frequent speaker on public policy and regional affairs. I am also the Founder and CEO of PublicPolicyAsia Advisors (PPAA), a business advisory firm. I am currently working on two forthcoming novels in the techno-political and dystopian thriller genres.
