Desirae J. Gracyn works as a pediatric nurse and, in her free time, writes stories with neurodivergent characters. She feels it’s important to include this in today’s literature, especially fantasy. Fairies go to therapy, too.
Most of her writing is for the upper end of young adult, though she has written a New Adult novel and one Middle-Grade retelling. Her favorite genre to write in is fantasy, and she loves to include games in every story. She dares you to find a story that doesn’t include a game.
Writing has always been a childhood dream of hers. However, Desirae never pursued it. Life happened, and her anxiety kept her away. Instead of writing, she received three bachelor’s degrees in management, marketing, and nursing.
While working as a nurse, she saw firsthand how powerful words were in healing and escaping. She began to share stories with her patients, enacting skits for them as she gave shots or tried to distract them from a procedure. The way it helped them made the writer in her blood come alive.
When Desirae is not writing, working, or reading, she spends her time growing in her relationships, faith, and herself. Her greatest desire in all the world is to be as loving as she can be. For without love, she is nothing.
