Sonia D. Hebdon: Dedicated Writer for Special Needs Families and Lover of 80s Urban Fantasy

Sonia D. Hebdon grew up on the coast of North Queensland, Australia, and moved to Sydney in the early ’90s to study Liberal Studies (Literary Theory & Communications) at the University of Western Sydney. After working in radio, PR, and education, she shifted her focus to raising her neurodiverse family.

A passionate advocate for disability inclusion and a proud Christian mother, Sonia writes to amplify the voices of children with special needs. Inspired by her father, an amputee, and her own two exceptional children, she celebrates individuality and resilience through storytelling.

She is the author of I Am Perfect The Way I Am—an empowering early-reader series featuring superheroes, fairies, and a young vampire boy designed especially for children with special needs—and The Crazy Mother’s Guide to Raising Exceptional Children, a raw, humorous, and heartfelt look at parenting kids with Autism Spectrum Disorder and Dissociative Identity Disorder.

Sonia’s latest book, Sincerely Yours… Written in the Stars and Inked in Destiny, is a YA paranormal romance and 1980s urban fantasy that blends magic, mystery, and love in a nostalgic, otherworldly adventure. What makes this book unique is its interactive nature, including a mixtape list so the reader can listen to the recommended songs that are featured throughout the book. Additionally, with the help of New Wave Multimedia, she wrote three new 80s-inspired songs to promote the book. Sonia has always been passionate about 80s music and wants to share her favorite bands with a new generation.

She lives with her husband, children, and a lovable crew of rescue pets in a country home in Australia filled with music and laughter.
