Hi, I'm Mark Cooke the author of Flamin' Eck The memoirs of a Yorkshire firefighter. I spent just short of thirty years as a wholetime firefighter with West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service retiring in 2016. Through much of that period I was involved in the provision of first aid training at Craven College and the young firefighters scheme. Following that service I went to work on ambulances providing patient transport and discharge care subcontracted to the Yorkshire Ambulance Service. Also providing medic duties to arenas and large events. Along side of this I was part of a team that provided transport for the Donor Transfer Service in the north west of the country.
Since retiring I was able to share some of the early adventures and training in the Fire Service in the memoir. I reconnected with my art and have been able to illustrate two delightful books written by Kathy Cooke and Mary Whale.
I may return to the fire service in another book with plenty of more stories to tell.
I am currently writing a children's novel entitled "The Park" An adventure through time.
