David Lavender

David Lavender recently retired from his second career in the biology field. After graduating with a Masters Degree in Entomology, he served as a Medical Entomologist and Preventive Medicine Officer with the United States Navy for twenty years. He taught Wildlife Management as a college instructor for three years before joining the Fish & Wildlife Branch at Fort Stewart Army Installation. With his Wildlife Biologist position, he worked mostly with endangered species for sixteen years before retiring for a second time.

David is married to his high school and college sweetheart, Julie Lavender, and they are the parents of four adult children. Two sons-in-law have joined the family, as well as three grandchildren.

With his wife Julie, an author and former educator and homeschooling mom, David now writes books and articles as a post-retirement passion and career. David and Julie have co-authored twenty-two books for the educational market, mostly about wildlife and sea life, and have penned three books for a Penguin Random House imprint, Zeitgeist.

The couple enjoys spending time with family and getting outdoors to watch caterpillars, admire butterflies, look for snakes, or hike new trails.
