Melanie Brown worked as a photographer on cruise ships for 18 years, travelling the world, seeing wonderful places and meeting extraordinary people. She now lives in Spain on the beautiful Costa Blanca and spends her time painting animal studies, and more recently, writing her first novel, 'The Broken Balalaika'. Her late mother, Margaret Brown, inspired Melanie to illustrate her mother's children book, 'Beyond The Flower Pots'. Then Margaret began writing a story situated on a Russian cruise ship, which she never finished. This is the book Melanie has so recently completed and devoted many years of study and time in between all her other commitments. She is now gathering more memories from her past life for a follow up book.
