Dane Kiambi, Ph.D., writes children's books rooted in true stories.

The idea for Pathfinder Book Press began at home, when his four-year-old daughter came home from preschool asking whether she could scrub her skin to change its color. That moment became the company's first book, More Colors in the Box, and set the course for everything Pathfinder publishes: real moments from real lives, told with honesty and warmth, and crafted to open the conversations that matter most in childhood.

Dane is an award-winning professor at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's College of Journalism and Mass Communications, where he has spent his career studying how stories shape the way people understand themselves and one another.

Before academia, he spent eight years in journalism and public relations. He brings that same belief in the power of a well-told story to children's books, where he thinks the most important stories of all begin.

Above all, he is a father to twin daughters, who remain the reason for every book he publishes. Pathfinder Book Press is his way of giving them, and children everywhere, stories that tell the truth and celebrate who they are.
