Raef Y Mootassem

Raef Mootassem has lived in multiple cultures and pursued a career in both Civil Engineering and Computer Science. His love for computers began when the word “computer” was still unfamiliar to most, and that passion shaped the course of his life. But while technology defined much of his career, it was a deep fascination with spirituality that led him to write his first book, Predestined Free Will.

Raef never set out to be a writer—his book made him one. The journey of bringing Predestined Free Will to life also became a journey of learning how to write. His goal was to make complex ideas easy for everyone to understand. Each chapter is short—about three pages—with a single-word title that captures its essence.

After years of work, Predestined Free Will is finally here. While Raef has ideas for future books, his current focus is on translating this one into different languages so more people can access its message. He hopes this book resonates with readers and, who knows, maybe even becomes a bestseller.

Raef has always been a passionate reader. In his youth, he was what he calls a “book alcoholic”—reading books in a single night, then in a week, and eventually stretching them out as life got busier. His writing routine followed a simple philosophy: “Dumb it first, edit later.” Through multiple revisions, he shaped Predestined Free Will into what it is today.

Raef believes that everything in life—no matter how small or seemingly insignificant—happens for a reason. His book is for anyone struggling through life’s challenges, offering a perspective that may bring clarity and comfort.

Though he was an early adopter of the internet and social media in the Middle East, work commitments kept him from maintaining an online presence. However, he is excited to finally share his thoughts with the world through this book. His advice to aspiring writers? If you have an idea that won’t leave you alone, don’t give up—pursue it until it comes to life.
