J M Ryder

J. M. Ryder, born in Edmonton in 1959 and raised in South West London, has spent her life in caring professions before embracing a simpler life as a cleaner and gardener in Dorset. Throughout, her love for stories and creativity remained constant.

Publishing her debut novel in her sixties proved that passion can shape new chapters at any stage of life. A Bridge in Time follows Maddie Coles, who wakes from a 25-year coma to find herself immobile and grappling with lost years. Rebuilding her life from childhood memories, Maddie faces devastating losses and extraordinary surprises, showcasing resilience and the strength of the human spirit.

Ryder’s upcoming second novel, A Change of Heart, explores relationships, self-discovery, and emotion through the lives of Rick, Antonia, and Wendell as they navigate love, loss, and resilience.

When not writing, she enjoys Dorset’s countryside, artistic pursuits, and pub quizzes. Ryder’s storytelling journey is just beginning.
