Dr. Marchewka is a seasoned executive that has come up through the ranks in the IT vertical, expanding into information security, quality management, and strategic planning. He has held several roles leading in business, most recently with Illinois Bone & Joint Institute as the CIO.
Before joining Illinois Bone & Joint Institute, Dr. Marchewka was with PryorHealth as CAO, Gift of Hope Organ and Tissue Donor Network, leading the Information and Technology Services department as the Director of IT, Data, and Security Services (CIO). In this role, he provided leadership for Information & Technology Services, Compliance, Data & Reporting. He also served as the HIPAA Security Officer in this role. Prior to Gift of Hope, Dr. Marchewka was the Enterprise Information Security and Server Operations Manager (CISO) for Chicago Public Schools, the third largest school district in the country. In this role he managed the Information Security group, Server Team (Windows/Linux/Storage), and IAM Team. Additionally, his IT background includes experiences from running his own computer support business to field service to Fortune 250 experience with Thermo Fisher Scientific. His career started in the US Navy as a Electrician's Mate - Nuclear.
Dr. Edward Marchewka's research interests lie in business analytics/metrics, cybersecurity, risk communications, healthcare technology, and cyberpsychology, and management.
