Carole Foot

Carole Foot has been obsessed with imagining other worlds and realities since before she could read and write. She firmly believes that life is too short to be held back by convention and that anything is possible. Her vivid imagination and capacity to invent extraordinary people, things and places are captured in these epic tales.

Carole comes from a modest childhood in Australia. She excelled in a career in critical care medicine before deciding to take the plunge and pursue her passion for writing. She hopes her stories will be sources of entertainment, joy and instill hope that good will always conquer evil.

Her writing partnership with Liz Hickson began when they were still practicing doctors. They are now bringing together a shared passion for writing, advocacy for literacy, especially in poorly resourced contexts, travel, food and photography with a love of dogs. They thought it would be impactful to encourage reading by drawing those who enjoy the magical realism genre to further squint between fantasy and reality by meeting the real protagonist of their books first-hand, as well as online.

The ethos of their self-publishing company, 'The House of Hickson, Pty Ltd', is the ‘more we sell, the more we can donate’. Two series are now available.

'Geo the Space Explorer' is a completed 23 book, epic fiction series for adults, although the first 3 are suitable for a YA audience. 4-5 per year are being released. 'GJ the Earth Explorer' is a digital art series for younger readers and the young at heart, including those still mastering reading or learning English.

Geo and GJ are their real dogs. GJ is a Therapy Dog in training whose energy and affection is termed 'GJ magic'. For a daily dose of heroes, villains and brown dogs visit their world @geohickson
