Nancy Dunis

Author / Publisher of nonfiction content related to public history, specifically little-known remarkable women in history who have made a contribution to society and whose stories have yet to be told. Occasionally, I write about notorious men and I have written several humorous feature stories. History-themed books–nonfiction paperbacks and ebooks, coloring books, work books , activity books, and a variety of word puzzle books are my specialty.

The story of a vintage1960s refrigerator inspired my passion for history, not just history itself but sharing history. I love the deep dives, the backstories. The refrigerator wasn’t just a box that kept food from spoiling: What model was it? Color? Who owned it? Why did my brother want to buy it? Who was the manufacturer? Why did they make this particular model? Curiosity is what gives me the edge as a writer and why people read my work, so I’ve been told.

I've written two newspaper columns: one since 2007 and the other since 2013. The latter column, entitled The HistoriConnection recently became a blog with the same name. The newspaper was recently sold, creating a lot of problems with consistency, so I opted to write the same content as a blog on my website.

Concurrent with writing the newspaper columns, I’ve authored three books with two more publishing later this spring. And I have a couple of short little e books coming out as well.

When not writing, you’ll find me tending my dahlias and clematis; experimenting with recipes in the kitchen or soaking in the spa. I adore frosting…eating it without the cake.
