Doctor John Dayton was an Air Force pilot assigned to Strategic Air Command during the Cold War. He received the Air Force Commendation Medal for flight operations under hazardous conditions, including rescuing an FB-111 and its crew. While in the Air Force, John became a Christian and has served the church as a deacon and elder. After being honorably discharged from the Air Force, he attended graduate school and earned a PhD in experimental physics. Following graduate school, John became a physics professor, lecturing at several Springfield area colleges. For 30 years, John was a tenured full professor and department chair at American International College. John and his wife, Shirley, have been married for 45 years. They have two adult children, Rachel and Joshua, and four granddaughters. Since retiring, Dr. Dayton has focused on writing Reformed expository commentaries on books of the New Testament.
