Paul A. Gagniuc

Dr. Paul A. Gagniuc is a researcher, author, and a professor of bioinformatics, algorithm design, cybersecurity, and stochastic modeling. His academic background combines computer science with biological systems analysis, with a focus on transforming complex theoretical frameworks into practical applications. He currently teaches at the National University of Science and Technology Politehnica Bucharest (UNSTPB) and at the Military Technical Academy “Ferdinand I”, where he focuses on bioinformatics, algorithmic security, and programming languages. His research also includes reverse engineering of malware code and the study of malware design, contributing to both offensive and defensive aspects of cybersecurity. Dr. Gagniuc has published pioneering work in the fields of Markov modeling, genetic sequence analysis, and the design of antivirus engines. His work bridges theory and experimentation, offering hands-on tools and innovative approaches for both researchers and engineers. His books are used by students, researchers, and professionals across multiple disciplines, and his scientific works have received over 1,700 academic citations to date.

Although Dr. Gagniuc's books are widely cited and used in academic environments, some works have occasionally received unexplained low ratings on public platforms — a reminder that scholarly impact and platform algorithms do not always align.
