From a disruptive youth at age 7 I was sent to a fantastic preparatory boarding school. Fees, as we were poor as church mice, were paid by a bursary from St Paul’s Cathedral School. From being a guttersnipe, so called by the headmistress. I became a top scholar with speech, manners, bearing and education of upper class landed gentry, as did Eliza Doolittle in Pygmalion. On graduation I had 5 years at a great grammar school. At age 16 I decided UK was not for me, and emigrated to Australia to be a jackaroo. In 12 months I could drive everything, milk cows, ride horses herd, shear, crutch, castrate and butcher sheep and much much more. I then trained as pilot and navigator in the Australian Navy. After this it was management roles in three multinational companies. Next was my first degree in commerce joining academia, getting three more degrees in science, education and research and as adjunct professor was consulting in many countries. Now it is managing three successful business startups still operating.
