Darcie Champagne Wells serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of CanCare, Inc., a leading nonprofit organization that provides hope and healing to the cancer community by ensuring anyone facing cancer can have a survivor by their side. Since joining CanCare in November 2020 as its third CEO, Darcie has transformed the organization, setting new records in cancer support, volunteer recruitment, and fundraising performance, while significantly increasing cash reserves and expanding CanCare’s reach.
A champion of innovation, Darcie is known for her strategic vision and leadership in mobilizing communities around critical causes. She has pioneered initiatives that have positioned CanCare as a national leader in emotional support for cancer patients and their families. Under her leadership, CanCare launched the highly acclaimed Hope in the Face of Cancer podcast, where Darcie serves as host and helps others share stories of resilience and hope.
Prior to her leadership at CanCare, Darcie held senior leadership roles at March of Dimes, where she earned national recognition for developing innovative fundraising strategies and forging mission-driven partnerships. Throughout her career, she has been celebrated for her ability to cultivate powerful coalitions and create a culture of collaboration that drives lasting impact.
Darcie’s leadership has earned her multiple prestigious awards, including recognition as one of the Houston Business Journal’s “Women Who Mean Business” and “Most Admired CEOs.” She was also named the national “Fundraiser of the Year” by RAISE at the event fundraising conference. A recognized thought leader in nonprofit management, fundraising, and volunteerism, Darcie is a prominent voice on LinkedIn, where she shares insights on leadership and mission-driven impact.
Darcie holds an MBA from the University of Houston and a BS in Business Administration from Louisiana State University. She resides outside of Houston, Texas with her husband and two sons.
