Benjamin Lester is a Vice President and Economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia, where he serves as the Section Head of the Banking and Financial Markets group. He is broadly interested in macroeconomics, finance, and labor economics, and has published research in many of the top journals in Economics and Finance, including the American Economic Review, the Journal of Political Economy, the Review of Economic Studies, and the Journal of Finance. He is the author of a new book, “The Economics of Over-the-Counter Markets,” which is joint work with Julien Hugonnier and Pierre-Olivier Weill. Ben serves as an associate editor at the International Economic Review, the Journal of Economic Theory, and Theoretical Economics, and is also a lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania, where he teaches PhD courses. He graduated with magna cum laude with a BA in Economics from Cornell University, and received his PhD from the University of Pennsylvania.
