Jennifer Rowsell

Jennifer Rowsell is a Canadian who lives and works in the United Kingdom as an academic at the University of Sheffield. She has been a literacy researcher for 25 years having worked at universities in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. Jennifer writes about ways people of all ages and stages engage in literacy (as in reading, writing, visualising, speaking, and listening) in varied, idiosyncratic ways and how these diverse ways of making meaning can inform education. Her most recent book, The Comfort of Screens (published by Cambridge University Press and co-written with Samuel Sandor) is more of a research novel than academic book and it is a deep dive into 17 people's digital lives and what their stories can tell us about the richness and complexities of modern forms of sharing and communicating.
