Jan Morrill

Jan Morrill is an award-winning author of several books, short stories, and essays. Her historical fiction, THE RED KIMONO (University of Arkansas Press, 2013), is about a Japanese American family interned during World War II. It was awarded an Arkansas Gem by the Arkansas State Library System. Her children’s book, THE MAGICAL RED KIMONO (Solander Press, 2025), is a story about the friendship between two characters in THE RED KIMONO.

Jan teaches writing workshops around the country and also speaks to schools and civic organizations about the Japanese American internment.

An artist as well as a writer, she recently completed the sequel to THE RED KIMONO.
