My updated bio:

I'm an 85 year young (on Oct 23, 2025) Vietnam Vet, have been a Christian since I was 9

and have a story to tell about something that happened to me when I was 17 and living

in South Arkansas (Camden) and had just graduated from High School!

My Senior Year I had an outstanding year in sports: Captain of the Football Team,

High Point Scorer and State Tournament in Basketball and in Track and Field,

many times I would win all 5 field events (Pole Vault, High Jump, Broad Jump,

Shot Put & Discus then Anchor the Mile Relay Team!

But not one college coach came to see me!

So, the Lord put it upon my heart to stuff some of my Track & Field Medals,

Ribbons and Press Clippings into my jeans and thumb a ride from Camden

to Memphis where I knew that Memphis State Univ (Now the Univ of Memphis)

was AND my Grandparents, Aunts & Uncles lived!

I was able to thumb a ride all of the way to West Memphis in NW Arkansas

but NO ONE would pick me up and take me across the bridge into Memphis!

So I went to a Service Station there, sneaked up behind a big truck with it's

Tail Gate down, hopped up on it and rode across that Memphis Bridge

probably going 50-60 MPH, until we got to where you could see the St Jude

Children's Research Hospital where I jumped off of the Tail Gate and caught

a bus to near the University.

After finding the Track & Field Coach's office, he was not there so I asked his

sec'y if I could just leave my Medals, Ribbons & Clippings there, give her my  

my Grandparent's phone number and ask Coach Johnson to call me if he was

interested in talking to me. She said Sure!

Two weeks later I was sitting on a lifeguard stand at a Memphis Swimming Pool

where I had gotten a Summer job and another Life Guard punched me and told

that there was a guy outside the fence that wanted to talk to me! That Guard took

my place on the stand and I went over to Coach Johnson on the other side of the

fence and asked me if all of this was true about me winning all of the Field Events

then anchoring the Mile Relay Team? Of course I said Yes Sir!

He asked me to please come out to Memphis State that Saturday and meet with him

on the Practice field by the Basketball Court at Memphis State; of course I said

"Yes,Sir!"

When I got there that Saturday, Coach had the Shot Put, Discus, Vaulting Pole

all laid out, had me show that I knew what to do with them and he gave me a 4-year

Track & Field Scholarship!

I graduated 4 years later with:  A BS Degree in Math; Second Lt Bars as an Officer

in the USAF after going through their AFROTC Program eventually becoming

the Wing Commander there; Setting a school record in the Pole Vault that stood

for 10 years and being elected Track Team Captain my senior Year; Being voted

the Outstanding Active Member of my Fraternity: Sigma Chi and Receiving the

Balfour Award for that honor.

I give all of the Glory to God for all He has done for me during my life. He also

gave me the ability to: Earn an MS Degree going to night school at USC while I

was in the Service; Also honored by the Base Commander taking me off of a B52

Crew and placing me on his staff, enabling me to volunteer for a tour at

Kadena AFB in Okinawa on the Wing Commander's Staff briefing Crews and

flying with some crews over Vietnam during the Vietnam War.

After leaving the Service as a Captain in USAF, I went to work for IBM in Houston

for 5 years then: Founded an on-line Service Bureau handling Texas Savings &

Loans and built it up to having 444 S & L Branches on-line when I sold it to start

a Nation-Wide Long-Distance Company with electronic Switches across the

Country from New York to LA, sold it after 16 years and started purchasing land in

Texas and joining Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices (BHHS) as a Commercial Agent

with their Premier Properties Franchise in Texas where I have been for 26 years and

am now focusing upon selling and helping develop AI Factories (Data Centers) in the

47 States where BHHS is located.

Finally: I have been married to my sweet wife Diane for over 42 Years,

have 6 Children (One Deceased) and 9 Grandchildren, have been a Deacon in the Baptist Church in 1973 and taught 7th & 8th Grade Boys Sunday School for 17 years.
