Born and raised on a small island in the Atlantic Ocean, Maria was as very young girl when just surviving was her everyday prayer. It was her decree, for safe, she needed to be. Responsible for duties adults couldn’t see, the wellbeing and safety of her little sisters, the beads of her rosary. Surviving abuse, hard work and poverty, not the torture of slavery but same pain, a different kind of misery.
Just a very young girl that watched the pain of adults transformed into monsters. Monsters she couldn’t and wouldn’t want to ever hate, so faith was fostered by her heavenly sponsors.
Her faith and her fears, her weakness and her strengths. Her love for God’s heart, it was her courage and her life’s contents. Gifted with the miracle of a second chance at life after being in a coma for days straight, it was her sleeping fate awakening her faith. Maria was only 4 years old when rheumatic fever took over her heart, However from God she was never apart.
