Arpi Arus

Arpi Arus (pen name) is a Vermont-based scholar with 35 years of project management experience in international humanitarian organizations. She has worked in several conflict zones across the Caucasus and former Yugoslavia and has been a visiting scholar at the Economics Institute in Boulder, Colorado, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She holds a Master’s degree in Intercultural Service, Leadership, and Management from the School for International Training, Brattleboro, VT. Her passion for community development has shaped her career, and by integrating Appreciative Inquiry with Intercultural Communication, she aims to enhance the quality and impact of development projects. Her most recent work with children from Artsakh (also known as Nagorno-Karabakh) was so impactful that she created a guide on Appreciative Communication to help train more facilitators. The goal is to support the organic, community-driven integration of forcefully displaced populations with native communities in conflict-affected areas.
