Chip Kussmaul has taken a circuitous route to writing. Although he graduated with a BA in English, his first two years of college were in engineering. He taught earth science for six years in a rural school in Ohio. In addition to teaching, he developed his interest in home renovation, having bought an 1880s Victorian that was in need of love and attention.
He also did wood replacement on antique cars. When a customer asked if he could fabricate wood for a Ford station wagon, Chip said that he probably could. That one project became a small manufacturing concern, making replacement wood for hundreds of woodie station wagons.
He and his wife, Jan, raised a blended family in the house they renovated and have lived in for forty years.
After over four decades of a very busy life, in retirement, Chip is now able to turn to the interests he has put aside for all that time. He is actively pursuing writing and singing/songwriting. Not surprisingly, his writing tends to center around people with hands-on experience. He feels that tradesmen, artisans, and engineers have been vastly underrepresented in both fiction and non-fiction. They are little understood and rarely examined in literature. Chip has a unique perspective in that regard, quite different from many other writers, and he writes from that perspective. He writes essays and short stories, published on his website under the pen name The Radical Individualist, in addition to the books you see here on Amazon
