Eva Belley

Hi there, I’m a storyteller, mum of three, and a big believer in the magic of bedtime stories. Originally from Hungary, I now live in sunny (and sometimes windy!) New Zealand with my wonderful, wild little crew.

The BraveBoy book series was born out of nighttime tales I made up for my youngest when he was scared to fall asleep. His best buddy in every adventure? Kitty—a brave, slightly cheeky cat inspired by his favourite soft toy from his Nanna. The stories often include his real-life siblings and little slices of our family life, mixed with a splash of fiction and a whole lot of heart.

Both he and his sister deal with a bit of anxiety, and I found that it was so much easier for them to open up when we talked about how other characters felt. That’s what sparked this whole journey—creating stories that help kids feel understood, comforted, and a little braver every time they turn the page.
