About the author
ROBERT G. WRIGHT, Jr. grew up in Jasper, Indiana. He graduated from Indiana State University with degrees in Criminology and Business Administration in 1987, graduated from Indiana University Indianapolis Law School in 1990, and passed the Indiana Bar Exam in 1990. While attending law school, he worked at the City of Indianapolis Legal Division in 1989 and at the Indiana Attorney General’s Office, Consumer Protection Division, in 1990.
In 1990, the Federal Bureau of Investigation offered him a position as an FBI Special Agent. After graduating from the FBI Academy on January 4, 1991, he was assigned to the Jefferson City, Missouri Resident Agency Office (JCRA) of the FBI Kansas City Division. Agent Wright worked on many bank robberies, fugitive cases, and International terrorism cases in the JCRA.
On May 21, 1993, Wright was involved in the fatal shooting of a dangerous fugitive in Jefferson City, MO. On July 15, 1993, the FBI investigated a serious threat to Agent Wright’s life. The Kansas City FBI office requested that FBI headquarters expedite the transfer Agent Wright to a top-15 FBI office.
Agent Wright was transferred to the Chicago FBI Division’s Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF). The mission of the JTTF was to protect the American people by identifying and neutralizing International terrorism threats. Agent Wright retired from the FBI with eight years of his career working on International terrorism matters.
During his thirty-two years with the FBI, retiring on 12/31/2022, Wright received two FBI Director Letters of Commendation, an FBI Director Incentive Award, an FBI Director Citation for Special Achievement, and five FBI Director Time Off Awards. He also received four FBI 10K gold Fidelity, Bravery and Integrity medals for his years of service to the FBI.
In 2002 Wright received an FBI commemorative pin for his work on the 9/11 criminal investigation. Wright gave the FBI 9/11 pin to ABC News reporter Brian Ross. "FBI Assistant Director Kathleen McChesney banned me from working on any aspect of the 9/11 criminal investigation. I’m certain I was the only FBI employee to be banned from working on any aspect of the 9/11 investigation. I gave Mr. Ross the FBI 9/11 pin because he was doing more than anyone else to help Agent John Vincent and me expose to the FBI’s pre-9/11 negligence to the American people and Congress," he said.
This book is the culmination of years of investigating the largest FBI Act of Terrorism criminal case in the bureau’s history before the attacks of 9/11. The investigation, opened by Agent Wright, was code-named VULGAR BETRAYAL, also the title of this four-volume book series.
Wright met his wife, Angie, in October 2005 and married in October 2007. They have five children, Beemer (2008), Sabrina (2010), Tabitha (2012), Clarissa (2014), and Priscilla (2016).
In March 2024, Wright began the process of self-publishing THE FBI’s PRE-9/11 VULGAR BETRAYAL Volume 1 and Volume 2. The book was so large it had to be split in two. The second book, THE FBI’s POST-9/11 VULGAR BETRAYAL Volume 3 and Volume 4, was written from September 11, 2001 through 2009. It details the FBI’s repeated acts of retaliation against Agent Wright for his many efforts to expose the truth about the FBI’s dereliction of duty to protect the American people.
