David McElhinney

David McElhinney is a Northern Irish freelance writer, journalist, author, and editor based the UK and Tokyo. He has spent most of the last decade writing about Japan, publishing stories on travel, arts and culture, current affairs, and international sporting events. He also writes longform essays, creative non-fiction, and travel books.

His work has been published in Tokyo Weekender, The Japan Times, The Belfast Telegraph, The Independent, The Irish Independent, Al Jazeera, CNN, Intrepid Times, Wanderlust, and other publications. He's the author of two books, Intrepid Japan and Frommer's Japan.
