Stephen grew up in Toronto, Canada, exploring the city’s Carolinian forest trails and the mixed forests and waterways of Georgian Bay and the Canadian Shield, cultivating. Three decades of service as a mental health professional, including years living and working in remote locations and diverse cultures, from Indigenous communities in the Boreal forests of Northern Ontario to the remote Highlands of Papua New Guinea, have afforded Stephen a privileged perspective into the diversity of our relationships with one another and the world about us that he holds with humility. Taken together, a gratitude and respect for the interdependence of all living things and the uniqueness of each human experience inspire and inform and inspire his writing. Stephen now lives in Vancouver with his beloved life partner and their two cats.
