Lawrence Mieczkowski, MD, usually referred to as Dr. Mitch, is an award-winning physician, speaker and now an author. His career started when he graduated from Carnegie Mellon University in 1978 and then completed medical school at The University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in 1982 and went on to have a successful career. To others, it appeared that he was living the American dream. Yet inwardly, he was suffering from deep despair which worsened after the Columbine shootings in 1999.
Finally seeking help in 2001, Dr. Mitch found Dr. Dan, a trusted psychiatrist, who helped Dr. Mitch unlock the demons of the past, painful memories of abuse, neglect, and trauma. Diagnosed with PTSD, he embarked on an eight-year journey of counseling that led him down the path to healing, proving that even in the face of overwhelming odds, it's possible to find the light.
