It became a vision when I was about 8 years old playing basketball in some type of youth league at the old Franklin Jr. High School. I vividly remember dribbling the ball up the floor in a fastbreak fashion and experiencing my real “why” for the rest of my life.

See, being able to control and guide the situation into a positive outcome, our team scoring a basket, was what led to my drive to be a Coach. Giving a stutter step and a fake that leads to a layup for a teammate is what made me the person I have become.

As far as my memory serves me, that was the first time I remember finding extreme happiness in relation to a purpose and path to follow forward.

Greg “Coach” Hess

Graduate University of Calgary 1978 – captain of basketball team and selected as an All Canadian. Continued playing serious hoops into late 30’s matching up on the likes of John Stockton and Dennis Rodman to name a few.

High School Social Science teacher and Head Basketball Coach from 1978 – 1991. Took reins at Westlake Village High School, Southern California, in 1987 and had 4 players get Div. 1 scholarships over three years. Hired as Assistant Coach at California Lutheran University and completed MBA in 18 months. The coaching record over 14 years was 265-78. Worked with Magic Johnson by running his camps during time at CLU.

Took a solo unsupported bicycle tour from Jasper, AB to Los Angeles, CA during transition from basketball coach to business leadership.

With MBA completed held leadership roles in multiple companies over the next 30+ years, eventually specializing in the oil and gas industry. Throughout business leadership career was always called “Coach”. Diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer while holding the role as the Chief Advisor Cloud Services for Halliburton 9 years ago.

During recovery made a commitment to be a professional business coach and has been the coach with a higher purpose. A results-oriented coach where 80% of his clients have doubled their revenues in the first year with Coach Hess. Along with discovering a more fulfilling life.
