Ken Breniman is a queer author, yoga therapist, grief guide, and professional hope-holder for humans fumbling their way toward healing. With a background in social work, thanatology, and psychedelic integration, Ken blends humor, science, myth, and soul into everything he creates. Whether holding space for someone’s heartbreak or dreaming up subversive fiction, he believes storytelling can be a form of spiritual CPR for a world gasping for meaning.
His debut collection, Subversive Acts of Humanity, is a love letter to the brokenhearted and the brave—part memoir, part manifesto, part permission slip. Ken writes for those who are tired of pretending and ready to remember what it means to be deeply, tenderly human.
He’s currently working on multiple books (because linear paths are overrated), including:
a three body solution — a genre-bending queer sci-fi play about love, loss, and planetary exit strategies, where a thruple of unlikely world leaders must save humanity or at least throw a fabulous farewell party;
three friends and a good enough death — a heart-opening children’s book for all ages exploring mortality, memory, and meaning, complete with activities for caregivers and kids;
Kenny. Life is trying, so let’s try and try and try again — a resilience tale told through life's harshest lessons;
Celtic Wisdom and Practices for Psychedelic Integration — a soulful guide to navigating altered states through ancient rites and rooted traditions.
Ken lives in Oakland, California with a jungle of plants, a backyard full of bees and birdsong, and a beloved partner of nearly two decades. When not writing, he can be found leading naked yoga classes for men, hosting sound baths, or conspiring quietly with the universe about how to make the world just a little kinder.
Read, review, and play-it-forward. Love is contagious. So is courage.
