Stuart Ritchie

Stuart has over thirty years’ experience of high-net-worth private client taxation, including inheritance and succession planning. He has built up considerable expertise in this field with an emphasis on agreeing complex taxation issues, both onshore and offshore, and helping clients achieve their financial objectives.

Stuart’s experience enables him to provide a unique insight into the circumstances of individuals and families and the objectives they seek to achieve as they grow their wealth and in time, seek to pass it on to their heirs and successors.

He trained and studied while working for Rawlinson & Hunter, one of the leading private client accountancy firms in London. Once a qualified chartered accountant and chartered tax advisor, Stuart began working in private client taxation, as well as being exposed to Inheritance Tax and the giving of succession advice, working with clients of the highest profile and with complex high-value entities.

After six years with Rawlinson & Hunter, he took up the position of manager at the relatively small private client accountancy firm Dixon Wilson, where he progressed to become a partner.

Stuart is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation. In addition, he is the Chairman of the Private Client Committee of the Tax Faculty of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. He founded Ritchie Phillips LLP in 2003.

In 2024 Stuart published his first book ‘Who Will Get My Money When I Die’ in which he shared his considerable experience and expertise to create a comprehensive and user-friendly guide to the issues you need to consider when putting your financial affairs in order.

Stuart is married to Caroline. They are blessed with a son, Matthew, and their home is currently dominated by their two dogs, Jago and Jowan. When not working, Stuart enjoys sport, playing cricket, golf and real tennis. He also enjoys culinary delights, all the more so if they can be combined with the arts.
