I am a theologian by background and training, currently Professor of Values in Health and Social Care at University of Staffordshire (UK) and an Associate Supervisor for PhD researchers at Westcott House, Cambridge. Most of my research and writing sits at the interface between religion and social care, and my published material tends to focus on the way our beliefs interact with our response to social challenges. The heart of my work for the last decade or so has been thinking about theology and dementia, a project with my own mother's illness and death from dementia in 2004 and culminated in the publication of "Touching God: dementia and the bodies of Christ" in 2025.
