Don Howard, MD, PhD, is an author, physician-scientist, and philosopher whose work spans medicine, diagnostics, biotechnology, longevity, and metaphysics. His writing brings together scientific rigor, philosophical depth, and a longstanding engagement with the questions that define human life.
He is the author of Before Being: A Metaphysical Inquiry into Nothingness, Becoming, and the Mystery of Being Human (2025) and After Nothing: A Transcendental Inquiry into the Ground of Reality (2026). Together, these books form the opening volumes of the Origins of Existence Series, an extended philosophical inquiry into the foundations of reality, the instability of nothingness, and the conditions of consciousness, freedom, love, and death.
He is also the co-author, with Dr. Ioulia Howard, of The Art, Science, and Strategy of Longevity: An Expansive Exploration of Aging, Health, and Human Potential (2025), a rigorous and wide-ranging examination of the biology, medicine, and strategy of human longevity.
Over more than three decades, Dr. Howard has worked at the intersection of clinical medicine and scientific innovation. He founded and led CellNetix Pathology and Laboratories, one of the largest private pathology groups in the United States, and helped advance precision oncology and diagnostic practice across major healthcare systems. He has served as Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Washington and as Chief of Pathology at Swedish Medical Center.
He holds an MD from Albany Medical College, a PhD in experimental pathology from the University of British Columbia, and a BA in philosophy from Boston University. Today, he focuses on writing and metaphysical inquiry. He also co-founded Vibrant Ages with Dr. Ioulia Howard, where he continues to contribute to the science and strategy of human longevity.
