Jasmine Quick-Miller

Jasmine Quick-Miller is a dynamic force — part children’s author, part autism-friendly baker, part legislative changemaker, and 100% heart. A proud North Carolina native, Jasmine was raised by Amos and Patricia Quick and is a proud graduate of James B. Dudley Sr. High School, the first Black high school in Guilford County. She earned her degree in criminology and forensic science from NC State University and went on to earn two Master of Science degrees in forensic and health psychology.

Jasmine’s professional journey has taken her from courtrooms in Guilford County to the halls of the North Carolina General Assembly, where she currently serves as a legislative assistant. In 2021, inspired by the growing housing crisis and its ties to mental health, Jasmine created a bold statewide proposal that brought together elected leaders from the local to the federal level — all to fight for real, lasting solutions.

But Jasmine’s impact doesn’t stop at policy. In 2020, alongside her husband Alvin, she wrote and published a vibrant children’s book inspired by their brilliant son Marcus, who is autistic, has ADHD, and is nonverbal. Their storytelling journey gave birth to their family business — VirgoAri LLC — which now includes inclusive baking classes and storytimes that welcome neurodivergent children with love, creativity, and sprinkles.

In 2023, Jasmine welcomed her second child, Mateleka — a future spotlight-stealer with a smile that can brighten any room, just like her big brother.

Whether she’s mentoring youth, organizing community events, baking allergy-friendly cupcakes, or pushing policies that protect the most vulnerable, Jasmine lives by a Maya Angelou quote that perfectly sums up her spirit: “My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.”
