Mike Merrick

Mike Merrick began his career in the banking industry but decided it was time for a change and pursued the American dream. With a step of faith, he found a promising niche in the service industry, and in January 1978, he founded Fish Window Cleaning in St. Louis, Missouri. For twenty years, he grew Fish Window Cleaning across the city, focusing on repeat, low-rise commercial business. Mike saw an opportunity to expand beyond St. Louis, and using the franchising model, he and his wife, Linda, began to share the FISH system with others. FISH soon became a pioneer in the franchise industry and became an attractive option for other entrepreneurs looking to join a solid franchise organization.

From day one, Mike's vision for FISH was rooted in a commitment to exceptional customer care. As Mike puts it simply, “We show up.” Mike and Linda grew FISH’s company culture and franchise system on a core set of values. Central to this is a family-friendly business model that promotes work-life balance with no nights, no weekends, and no holidays required. Their deep experience in the business enables them to say, “Fish Window Cleaning is a business you can own without it owning you.”

Though not a salesman at heart, Mike was always willing to travel and work with Fish Window Cleaning franchisees to win new business. Today, Mike doesn’t cold call anymore, but he is always willing to spend time with FISH franchisees, helping them understand their financials and, in particular, the profit and loss statement to maximize their business potential.
