N. W MARTIN

I was born in the countryside, surrounded by forests, rivers, wildlife, and breathtaking landscapes that inspired a lifelong fascination with nature, history, and remarkable stories.

Books have been my companions for as long as I can remember, and curiosity has always had a way of leading me somewhere unexpected. More often than not, it leads into history, where I can happily lose track of time exploring the people, places, and events that shaped our world. My love of the forests and wildlife of my childhood also grew into a fascination with the hidden world of plants, inspiring a lifelong interest in botanical medicine and the knowledge passed down through generations, alongside the discoveries of modern science.

That same curiosity still finds new ways to keep me occupied. One day it might be an explorer's journal from the nineteenth century, the next the rise and fall of an ancient civilization, the story behind a forgotten battle, or a medicinal plant growing on the family farm. I have come to believe that places, plants, and the pages of history all have stories worth discovering.

At some point, I had to accept that books would always be part of who I am. Whether I was reading them, collecting them, researching them, or writing them, they somehow always found their way back into my life. When I am not writing, I am usually reading or following an idea that refused to wait until morning. My best ideas have an inconvenient habit of arriving in the middle of the night, and I have learned it is wiser to follow them straight to my typewriter than to hope they will still be there after sunrise.
