Tilly Matthews

Tilly Matthews is a children’s author and illustrator based in the beautiful Staffordshire countryside. A graduate of Nottingham Trent University, Tilly now works part-time on the university’s graphic design course, where she continues to learn, grow, and stay creatively inspired.

Tilly’s stories are full of warmth, wit, and the kind of playful mischief that children love. She has a soft spot for lovable rogues and finds that humour is always at the heart of her characters and stories. One of her favourite parts of making picture books is going back at the very end to hide secret details in the illustrations—just for children to discover and giggle over.

When she’s not drawing or coming up with new characters, Tilly loves nothing more than experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen, heading out on long countryside walks, or spending quality time with her friends and family. It is often these everyday moments that help spark her new story ideas and inspire her next characters.

Tilly is excited for all the adventures ahead and can’t wait to keep creating stories that spark joy, imagination, and a little bit of cheeky fun.
