Wendell Wellman

Wendell Wellman is a professional screenwriter who has worked on many successful films with high-profile producers. His first work to hit the big screen was Clint Eastwood's Firefox (co-written with Alex Lasker), and he has written for Mr. Eastwood on other films, including Sudden Impact.

Mr. Wellman is an accomplished actor who has worked in film, television, and theater for multiple decades. His most recognizable works are Somersby, Curfew, The Klansman, Streets of Dreams, and Sudden Impact. Mr. Wellman has worked with Clint Eastwood, Richard Gere, Jodie Foster, Bill Pullman, Morgan Fairchild, Lee Marvin, Richard Burton, and many others. He founded the West End Theater Company, an acclaimed professional group in Los Angeles, which has produced major plays, several of which Mr. Wellman wrote and starred in.

Wendell’s latest work, A Hero's Delusion: Rewriting the Rules: A New Paradigm on Screenwriting, reveals the hidden flaw that plagues modern storytelling: the absence of a true, transformative journey for the protagonist. It is a continuation to his previous book, A Writer's Road Map, which was a huge success and translated into multiple languages. He has recently finished a new screenplay, Mr. Unknown, co-written with D. Paul Thomas, and has several other screenplays currently in development.

Wendell received his M.A. in English Literature from UCLA, and taught at UCLA's Extension classes for five years. He has taught at The Learning Annex, is a repeat guest lecturer with Fox Studios's "Storyboard Group,” and at the Santa Fe Screenwriting Festival. He also served as an Artist in Residence at the Carnegie Hall in West Virginia.
