John Bailey

John Bailey is a veteran technologist and prolific author whose career in computing began in 1976—when computers filled rooms and “the cloud” was something in the sky.

After more than four decades working with enterprise systems, software, infrastructure, networking, virtualization, capacity planning, security, and site reliability engineering, John brings a practical understanding of technology to his writing. His professional experience includes designing and supporting large-scale systems, developing software, managing infrastructure projects, analyzing capacity and performance, and helping organizations solve difficult technical problems.

His books range widely because his interests do too. John writes science fiction, mysteries, detective stories, historical fiction, fantasy, adventure, Christian books, humor, and practical books about computers and programming. His fiction includes the expanding Aurigan Conflict universe, space adventures and military science fiction, classic-style mysteries, historical stories, and tales of faith, courage, duty, and human ingenuity. His nonfiction includes Christian history and discipleship as well as practical guides for people who want to understand and use technology.

Although the settings may range from a nineteenth-century village to a distant planet or a modern data center, John's stories share a common interest in competent people confronting difficult circumstances, making hard choices, and discovering what is really happening beneath the surface.

John Bailey lives in Texas, where he continues to write, explore technology, and add to a bookshelf that is becoming increasingly difficult to manage.
