Igor Arien

Igor Arien came to fairy tales by a roundabout path.

Trained as a scientist and engineer, he spent years working on advanced aerospace systems and later devoted decades to technology innovation in Silicon Valley.

After a career among instruments and machines, however, he found himself increasingly drawn to questions they could not answer—the small, stubborn ones about courage and kindness, about what makes us curious, and about why some things are worth seeking even when no one can quite explain why.

Today he writes for readers of all ages, blending history, philosophy, humor, and the warmth of a fairy tale. His stories often hide their larger questions inside smaller adventures—a river to cross, a mystery to solve, a distant light to follow—trusting young readers, and the grown-ups reading beside them, to discover the deeper meaning for themselves.

Igor lives and writes in the Arizona desert, where the light is bright, the garden is imaginary, and there is always another story disappearing just beyond the horizon.
