Peter Hawthorne

Peter Hawthorne, was born in 1978 in Wolverhampton. In 1997 he read Law at University, returning to University in 2000 to study Modern History. A career in banking preceded a vocation in Education in 2005. An article in a national newspaper, inspired research into the Animal Victoria Cross leading to his first book in 2008, The Animal Victoria Cross, published by Pen and Sword in 2012. His continued interest in History brought a second book, Colditz - The Escapes, a detailed account of the successful escapes of 34 prisoners of war from Oflag IV-C (Colditz Castle), is due to be published in 2026.
