Maria E. Lyons is a passionate storyteller, children's ministry leader, and creative arts director with over 30 years of experience nurturing young minds through faith-based education, dance, and theater. She is the author of Angelina the Adventure Cat and the Garden of Whiskerwinks, a heartwarming children's book inspired by her real-life service cat, Angelina—a polydactyl Maine Coon with a knack for magical adventures and medical alert work.
As a Holistic Health Practitioner, Maria holds degrees in both Massage Therapy and Herbal Medicine. She is dedicated to healing through natural methods, blending her training in aromatherapy, bodywork, and traditional plant medicine to support whole-person wellness. Maria is also a proud enrolled member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, and her work is deeply rooted in the values of faith, family, heritage, and harmony with nature.
Despite being diagnosed with dyslexia, Maria has never let it define her limits. Instead, it's become part of her superpower—fueling her creativity, empathy, and innovative spirit. Through her writing, she hopes to encourage other children and adults to embrace their unique gifts and never give up on their dreams.
Maria lives in the Smoky Mountains of North Carolina with her husband, their children, and her adventurous cat Angelina, who continues to inspire stories filled with wonder, courage, and God's grace.
