Caroline Akselson

Caroline writes sewing books and teaches costume at the University of the Arts London. A trained costume maker, she spent years making costumes for stage and screen, before moving into teaching with private companies to eventually teaching at university. From 2018 to 2022 she ran an award-winning sustainable sewing brand, Selkie Patterns, with co-founder Alexandra Bruce. Her book credits include the following in the series for The Great British Sewing Bee: Sustainable Style, Back to Basics, The Skills, Made to Measure, Pattern Drafting. Feature writing includes Simply Sewing Magazine. She lives in Surrey with her children. Her interests include sustainability, interior design and reading.
